INSROP has developed a Geographical Information System for the Northern Sea Route – the INSROP GIS. This contains several hundreds of datasets collected through INSROP, including datasets on ice conditions, meteorological conditions, ship transit simulations, ecological data, port data, infrastructure, administrative borders and much more. It also contains tools for carrying out Environmental Impact Assessment of NSR activities. The INSROP GIS database and software is published as a CD-ROM: ‘INSROP GIS Software and Database’ by S.M. Løvås & O.W. Brude. 1999. (System requirements: ArcView 3.0a running on Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 (or newer). Documentation of software and database is found in INSROP Working Papers 165 and 166.
