Organization of scientific studies in the Arctic and the Antarctic; physical oceanography of the polar oceans; numerical modeling pf seawater dynamics; study and the information support of the Arctic shelf development; natural threats: sea ice and icebergs, etc.; climatic changes.

- member of the Scientific Board of RAS on the study of the Arctic and the Antarctic
- member of the working group “Development of education and science”, State Commission for the Development of the Arctic.


Awards:
2013: the Order “For marine merits”;
2015: Award of the government of the Russian Federation for development of the drilling technology and equipment for the assessment of the pattern of evolution of the past climates and the Earth’s biosphere, and for the implementation of this technology in the severe conditions of the Antarctic ice sheet.
