1970-1971: Oceanologist and hydrochemist at the North Pole drift station SP-16;
1972- 1989: Participant of 7 and Head of 4 oceanographic expeditions in the Northern and Southern oceans.

Climate change, Polar climate, Ocean-Atmosphere interaction; Polar amplification of climate variability; Statistical methods; Theory of “weather noise” in climate variability; Ocean circulation; Oceanographic observations and monitoring; Restoration of the large-scale ocean fields; Assessment of water mass and atmospheric circulation in Arctic; Teleconnections in the ocean and atmosphere; Global warming in Arctic and predictability; Asymmetry in the Arctic and Antarctic sea ice change.


Lecturing and teaching:
Special course “Climate and Environment of the Arctic” for undergrad and PhD students, AARI; Scientific Advisor of PhD students.
